ABOUT
Urban Assault was initially formed in Johannesburg in 1989. The band’s content predominantly centered around enviro-political and animal rights issues.
During their 8.5 years in existence, the group not only fulfilled the need at the time for more energetic and authentic music, but also managed venues, promoted events, on their own initiative showcased new talent, and shared the stage with almost all bands of similar genre(s) in Gauteng.
Urban Assault positioned themselves between traditional metal and punk (on one hand) and death, black, grind and speed on the other. The band’s overall thrust was to grow and consolidate an audience for heavy metal in general, while showcasing their own style of crossover/hardcore thrash
